Audrey Laatsch, 1929-2002

Among the many many volunteers who made the restoration of the Seth Peterson Cottage possible, Audrey Laatsch stands alone. A Seth Peterson Cottage Conservancy Board member Audrey died on August 5, 2002 in Madison at the age of 73 after a brief illness. Audrey was a person of many gifts. Her resolute determination, her sensitivity and her good humor led her to make a significant impact in every place she lived-Milwaukee, Sauk County and Madison. In the last 10 years, Audrey was the guiding force behind the restoration of the Seth Peterson Cottage on Mirror Lake, one of Frank Lloyd Wright's last commissions and the only Wright house available for rent by the general public. She also served as president of the Seth Peterson Cottage Conservancy, was active in friends of Mirror Lake, Friends of Wisconsin State Parks, the Frank Lloyd Wright Wisconsin Heritage Tourism Program, Inc. and served on the Board of UW-Baraboo.  This wonderful woman helped us to see the essence of beauty in people and nature, in fine music, art, architecture, decor, in drama and literature. Memorials to the Seth Peterson Cottage Conservancy, Box 334, Lake Delton, WI 53940.
